WAKANDA FOREVER!!! Listen I have been wanting to do a loc style on Croix since FOREVER!! After watching Black Panther.....
Croix was inspired by Michael "Bae" Jordan's character "Erik Killmonger" to try it out. So let me get into how we achieved this look.
I took him to the barbershop 2 weeks ago where he got a mohawk cut, so this set up the perfect frame for the look. Then we started with the essential tools: Comb, Clips, Hair Oils, Pantene Hydrating Butter-Creme and water. Croix's hair is just like mine, thick and absorbs moisture super fast. So I used the same Pantene Hydration Creme that I use on my own hair. It definitely does the trick. I didn't use any locing wax because again his hair is just like mine. Our hair will loc on its own if you don't do anything to it. Trust me I KNOW!! Lol!
I love using the Taliah Waajd Vitamin-E Hair & Scalp Oil for children. Keeps his scalp nice and moisturized and easy to manage. The spout makes it easy to get to the scalp even when his hair isn't parted. I rubbed Tea Tree Oil in my hands and rubbed it throughout his hair. I then sprayed his hair with water so I can manipulate it better and even more added hydration. Each twist I coated with the butter cream and used the comb to begin twisting. I then clipped the twist down at the root to secure in place.
I set him under my portable hooded dryer for about 30 minutes. Now this part he didn't too much care for because he said he "felt like a girl" (SMH BOYS!) But he was extremely excited with his results. I will keep taking him to the barbershop has his hair grows to get his shape ups. And as long as he's on his best behavior, we'll negotiate him getting a cool little design on the side. :)
My little Wakanda Tribe Warrior. How does he look?
