At the beginning of my son's school year I asked him "Do you want school lunches or do you want mommy to make your lunches?" Well he said....
Mommy! I was actually happy about his decision because I wasn't too excited about the food selections the school was providing. So wanted to make sure my son was getting the nutrients he needs, make them fun and cost effective.
So everything is about conveince these days. You can either go to the store and pay for conveince with less product or you can spend the time to make things convienent with more product. Well this is a no brainer!! DING...."More product for your money, Alex!" I purchased all of my son's favorite snacks and some snack baggies and began creating my little stash. You save so much money this way! I often coupon for some of the items or I like to go to Aldi's because they are super affordable with the same good quality you would get with name brand items. Plus your kids have no idea anyway, they just want to eat! LOL!
I bought these little bins from the Dollar Store to organize all the snacks for easy access in my pantry. I also got bins for any snacks that needed to be refrigerated for organization. I even pre-make his sandwiches and other goodies for easy conveince. Also here's a fun tip: I like to write my son's site words (he's in first grade) on his lunch baggies and have him tell me what the word or phrase is when he gets home. Then when we read our book of the night he has to identify the word in the story.
You can really be super creative with your kids lunches and snacks, make things super easy for you and make sure they are getting the nutrition they need to be productive in school. This is perfect for the working mom / mompreneur because in the efforts to simplify our lives, every minute COUNTS!
